The Penny V is the latest silhouette for the Penny Hardaway line of sneakers and this Orlando colorway celebrates how he made it big as an Orlando Magic Point Guard. He started out as a shooting guard, but by mid season he took over his iconic position and won the MVP award at the inaugural Schick Rookie Game. When he was on the team the Magic made their first fifty-win season. An air sole unit in the heel and a Nike zoom unit in the forefoot gives this shoe extra cushioning and the outsole’s waffle pattern increases its traction and durability.
Derrick Rose’s NBA playoffs injury may have taken him out of this season, but next year looks bright as he prepares for his return. As Rose trains for returning to the game next season, adidas is introducing the new D. Rose 3. The new Rose is a complete redesign of the previous Derrick Rose shoes. Breathability is the name of the game for this shoe, with perforations and mesh all over the upper to create a unique look that is guaranteed to be well-ventilated.
The new Derrick Rose logo featuring a D on the silhouette of a rose is featured prominently on the front of the tongue. The rose’s three petals represent his brothers and the center represents his mother. The back of the tongue has a graphic representing Derrick’s home neighborhood of Englewood and his family tree. Each colorway of the D. Rose 3 will feature special, personal graphics related to D. Rose on the inside of the tongue.
The SPRINTFRAME midsole provides stable, lightweight speed to keep you going fast and looks good with the paint splatter graphics. The iconic triple stripes run up the back heel cup and brings the shoe’s look together.
Be sure to cop this shoe as soon as you can, because it’s not going to last long.
This surprise colorway of the Air Penny V is a nod to his high school alma mater, Treadwell High School, from here in Memphis. It’s fitting that his high school colors are the first colorway to drop from the Penny V…after all, all legends start somewhere. Make sure you cop this pair, and be on the lookout for all the other colorways to come.

True to the spirit of the times, Staple has labeled its Fall 2012 collection “American History ______,” a nod to the running theme of the dichotomy between the haves and have nots that exists throughout the history of the nation. Two particular epochs that serve as primary inspirations are the “Insurgent Era,” giving nod to the American history of warfare, and the “Native Era,” which pays tribute to the original Native American inhabitants of the land. Also contained in the range is the “Staple Icon” series, a subcollection that harks back to the New York City origins of the brand.
